On February 25, 2013, 22-year-old Emma Bell arrived home from work, turned on the evening news and saw the dramatic pictures of a fire ripping through a San Antonio apartment complex. She realized that is was where her colleague and friend, Jennifer Mendez, lived with her mother, Consuelo Nungray.
As the television cameras rolled, Jennifer and Consuelo watched helplessly with neighbors as flames consumed all that they had.
What would they do next?
Where would they go?
How would they recover?
