Focus on “me time” and winding down.
Take time each night to wind down after a long day and don’t feel bad about having time for yourself. Try something relaxing such as yoga, stretching, taking a bath, or reading a book. You will fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer when your mind is turned off and you are in a relaxed state. Forget about the stress from work or fighting with your kids about brushing their teeth or getting ready for school.

Turn off devices and TVs.
One of the biggest factors disrupting our sleep is the use of our mobile devices, tablets, and TV screens. Watching TV or scrolling through your social media accounts before bed affect the release of melatonin that helps you fall asleep. Exercise.

If you exercise three to four hours before bedtime, your core body temperature will start to decrease from being heated and you will sleep better.

Make your bedroom a sleeping sanctuary.
Your bedroom plays an important part in getting sleep. Your space should be relaxing, dark, and cool. Blackout curtains, a ceiling fan, and comfortable bedding are things you need in your room. The bedroom is made for sleeping so don’t work, eat, or watch TV there.
