During times of national health emergencies, it’s important for those on the front lines to feel that their service is appreciated by the ones they’re caring for. Much like soldiers on a battlefield, our healthcare heroes are out there fighting for our wellbeing every single day and, much like our troops, we want to express our support. But, doing so in a safe way can be hard to do so, we’ve put together a handful of ways for you to express your gratitude safely from home.

The number one way you can show your support for all the hard work they’re doing is to stay home and continue practicing safe social distancing practices to keep you and your family safe. As counties begin to open back up its important to continuing following medically advised best practices to ensure the safety of ourselves and those around us. By acting in the best interest of the entire community, you’re giving our healthcare heroes the best thank you of all.

You can get your family involved in making signs to place in your front yard or beside any road. You can even place them on your vehicle or bike or any public space where they can see them.

Many healthcare workers are working longer hours which means they have less time to spend with their families or help prepare a healthy meal. You can help by donating to Food for Caregivers who will use your gift to purchase meals from local restaurants and food trucks to be provided to healthcare workers.

You can also help by donating to groups that are supplying needed PPE and medical supplies to Central Texas workers.

Direct Relief is a non-profit that helps secure needed medical equipment for those on the frontlines and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy works to help communities that are most vulnerable during this pandemic.
